Aeroflot pilots complain about failures of Russian air navigation software
BFM.RU
January 17, 01:15

After the sanctions, foreign manufacturers of air navigation software left the Russian market. Russian airlines switched to domestic solutions. Aeroflot used one product, but in December 2024 it switched to another. After that, problems began .

First class pilot, A-320 commander, Aeroflot honor student Andrey Litvinov tells the story :

Andrey Litvinov, first class pilot, A-320 commander, Aeroflot honors officer: “Everything started working so well that the pilots’ hair stood on end. Complaints started even before the New Year, and there were mass complaints that pilots were left without software during the flight. It has everything: loading airfield data, loading route data, loading approach and exit data from the airfield area. That is, all the airfield data is there. All the information is stored in these tablets. They don’t work. Pilots are left without navigation during the flight. This is very serious and very dangerous.”

Perhaps there is some exaggeration here. Pilots do not fly using electronic tablets, they use onboard air navigation equipment. And various documentation is loaded into the tablets, including the route, takeoff and landing schemes at various airports. These gadgets can also be used for navigation, but this is more of an auxiliary function.
