Introducing version 3.0 of our Lightspeed Retail app — the most minimalistic, ergonomic, and easy-to-use app we’ve ever created, with a brand new look.
Our iPad app is a huge success — it’s part of the reason Lightspeed is the software suite of choice for ambitious retailers around the world. Mobility is something we all take for granted, especially when it comes to “technology,” and retail is no exception (as seen in pop-up stores , skip-the-line shopping, inventory processes, and the customer experience in general). We decided it was high time for our mobile app to get a makeover and modernization.
Whether you use an iPad to run your entire store or just see it as another qatar cell phone number cash register, the new Lightspeed Retail app interface was designed with both store associates and managers in mind. Here’s a list of the updates you can expect:
A new elegant design
Completely redesigned navigation
A “Current Sale” bar to switch from one screen to another much more smoothly
The all new “Profile” tab to start your day (? really cool)
A tab tracing your sales history, to track your daily sales and manage your refunds easily
A “What’s New” pop-up to keep you up to date with the latest updates
A new, elegant, tabbed navigation
Gone is the old “hamburger” menu (yes, is that really what it’s called?), and in comes the new tabbed navigation. This new name may not sound as appealing, but trust us, the change is worth it! Designed to simplify access to the app’s various features, the new navigation highlights important actions that were completely hidden in the layers of the old menu.

Everything you need to start your day and start processing sales is easily accessible in the “Profile” tab.
Information related to your daily sales can be found in the much-anticipated “Sales” tab.
Everything else (inventory, reports etc.) is neatly stored in the “Manager” tab
The interactions you have on our POS application are not always linear. Sometimes, yes, you enter an order, complete the transaction, press “Done,” and that’s it, you’re done. But most of the time, you’re going back and forth between the current sale and an email address to edit, a hold item to check, an inventory level to check, etc.
So, to make this back-and-forth smoother, we added a “Sale in Progress” navigation bar. This navigation bar allows you to minimize the sales screen, which then appears as a miniature at the bottom of the interface while you perform another task. Pause and resume a sale with a single click, or abandon the sale completely by sliding the miniature window to the side. It couldn’t be simpler.
The all-new “Profile” tab
“You asked for it, we delivered it.” We received feedback from customers that in the old app, starting your day required too many successive steps and that the process was tedious for salespeople. So of course, we fixed the problem. Now you can do it all from a single tab, easier and faster:
Make sure you are connected to the correct network
Open your cash drawer and enter the amount of cash available at the start of the day.
Check that all your devices are active and correctly linked to your POS system
Check if your payment terminal has enough paper to print your receipts
