Unfortunately, it is not known how big GPT-4 is. It is assumed that it is a model with 100 trillion parameters. The difference in size between its predecessor GPT-3 and GPT-4 is quite clear in the following figure. It could also be that the model is about the same size, but was trained with better data and for longer. Unfortunately, this was not published. We will describe why this is the case in the technical report.

In short, GPT generates natural language text based on input and contextual context using a neural network trained on a large amount of data.

Size comparison of GPT-3 and GPT-4, source

When developing GPT-4, OpenAI placed great emphasis on the security of the model. A secure AI model is one that is designed to not produce unexpected or undesirable results that could be harmful to users or the environment. This means that the model must be reliable and predictable, and it must be able to withstand misinputs or malicious attacks.

GPT-4 can also accept multimodal input. This means that not only text can be used as input, but also images on which GPT-4 can describe objects.

The application also makes progress towards multilingualism, as GPT-4 is able albania consumer email list to answer thousands of multiple-choice questions in 26 languages with high accuracy – from German to Ukrainian to Korean.

GPT-4 also has a larger memory for conversations. For comparison: The limit for the number of tokens, i.e. the number of words or characters that ChatGPT or GPT-3.5 could process in one go, was 4,096. That corresponds to about 8,000 words. After that, the model lost track and could no longer refer to earlier parts of the text as well. GPT-4, on the other hand, can process 32,768 tokens. That means about 64,000 words - enough for an entire short story on 32 A4 pages.

Basically, it can be said that GPT-4 is the smarter, safer and improved version of ChatGPT. The application can basically do everything that ChatGPT can do, just at a higher level.

GPT-4 Technical Report from OpenAI
As far as the technical report is concerned , OpenAI has only published a very superficial paper on GPT-4. The reason for this is also explicitly stated: "... given both the competitive landscape and the safety implications of large-scale models like GPT-4, this report contains no further details about the architecture (including model size), hardware, training compute, dataset construction, training method, or similar." Since OpenAI is essentially part of Microsoft , it is Microsoft's AI forge. This makes it clear that OpenAI is no longer a research institution, but a software company. Nevertheless, we would like to briefly present the most important points.

Interestingly, models like GPT-4 are now being tested more on human benchmarks and subjected to less scientific testing. Examples include tests like the US Bar Exam, the SAT, a standardized test for students to get into universities, and others. Amazingly, GPT-4 scored in the top 10 percent of graduates on the Bar Exam, while ChatGPT was in the bottom 10 percent.
