Mean Girls is set in Illinois - but that's not where it was filmed. Mean Girls is an American comedy film set in Evanston, Illinois, but Hollywood movies are not usually filmed in Evanston.

Most filmmakers had to take away some of the dirtier language to make it more family-friendly. After all, Mean Girls had a very original, real-life script.
