Two specialists for a new EMM interface

Post by Reddi2 »

What can the new EMM interface do and how was it created? – Part 2
The EMM has had a new user interface since the beginning of the year. In the second part of the interview, designers Max Strebel (ivoke) and Martin Aschoff (AGNITAS) discuss the new features of the user interface. What was the path from conception to roll-out, and how does the new interface take into account the jungle of different displays and devices, which customers use to access the EMM?

Q: Mr. Aschoff, what are the advantages of the new user interface for its users?

Martin Aschoff: The new version adapts flexibly to the size of the browser window and scaling with the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl-+ and Ctrl- preserves all proportions without distortion. The flat design also looks more modern. The GUI is now dynamic and responsive.

But even at second glance, a lot has changed: The editors offer a full-screen mode, the HTML code editor supports syntax highlighting, select boxes offer an integrated search function and important buttons have been positioned so that fewer mouse movements are required.

Q: Is this also the reason for the changed settings and the unusual view in Internet Explorer 8?

Martin Aschoff: Yes, exactly. Personal settings such jordan phone number data as list lengths or collapsed areas are now saved locally in the respective browser, meaning that if you work with multiple browsers, you have to make these settings in each individual browser. However, many more parameters are now remembered than before. For an optimal view, we also recommend a current browser version and not the outdated IE 8.

Q: Mr. Strebel, how important is responsive design for interface design in email marketing in your opinion?

Max Strebel: Users are using an ever-increasing number of different devices and screen resolutions. Responsive design is primarily about making a user interface usable on a variety of devices. This removes barriers and allows users to work more flexibly and freely.

Q: How long did you actually work on the new version of the EMM?

Max Strebel: It's been over a year now. We started planning in May 2014. And our work isn't finished yet.

Martin Aschoff: We still have numerous ideas for specific improvements to the redesign that we will implement in the next few months – let yourself be surprised!
