The crux of artistic freedom

Post by asimj1 »

"Kill Roger Köppel ! Roger Köppel kills!" The street magazine "Surprise" calls for the murder of the "Weltwoche" publisher and SVP National Council candidate. And this without any nuances. This unusual measure was proposed by the German-Swiss artist collective "Center for Political Beauty." With all due respect: this is neither funny nor creative. Let's imagine that this call came from the other side: in addition to the moral tsunami that would sweep across our country, an army of netherlands rcs data public prosecutors would have to work night shifts to prove that the artist collective had "called for murder" (Section 11, Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code). The fact that this does not happen is due to Köppel's personality, the poisoned political climate and the supposed global right to "artistic freedom", which has to serve as a fig leaf for every nonsense.

But it is even more worrying when this tasteless call against Köppel is met with leniency, as is the case with Tagesanzeiger.ch. Under the title "Artists take on Köppel", a reference is made to the late theater man Christoph Schlingensief and his actions. The call for Köppel's murder could be understood as a reaction to his appearance on German television, according to tagesanzeiger.ch. The reason: In Sandra Maischberger's talk show, according to the Internet service, Köppel - after all, a long-time Tagi employee - made his usual pointed comments on the subject of refugees. With all due respect: "Role model" Schlingensief was far more "pointed" and radical than Köppel. And anyway: if a "Maischberger" appearance justifies a call for murder, we are not far removed from the legal understanding of the Taliban and their ilk.
