Road safety during blackouts: how does LogicPower ensure traffic lights work?

Long-term power outages in Ukrainian cities and villages caused by targeted enemy attacks on energy infrastructure have exacerbated the safety issue for drivers and pedestrians. During blackouts, non-functioning traffic lights increase the risk of accidents, creating dangerous situations on the roads.
The search for solutions to this problem has shown that road safety requires providing reliable backup autonomous power supply, which allows traffic lights to operate during long power outages.
Ukrainian brand LogicPower has joined forces with the Municipal Institution "Specialized Installation and Operational Unit" of the city of Odessa, offering an effective solution - a backup power supply system for traffic lights. Uninterruptible power supply devices ensure continuous operation of traffic lights when the city's power grid is de-energized.
Why has the implementation of backup power systems become critical to road safety?
Traffic safety
During rush hours, when roads become oversaturated, and every chinese thailand data emergency shutdown of traffic lights can lead to traffic jams and congestion on the roads, and in the dark - to serious accidents. For example, in Odessa, where the central office of LogicPower is located, accidents were consistently recorded during blackouts, which posed a threat not only to drivers, but also to pedestrians.
An uninterruptible power supply for traffic lights not only reduces accidents, but also ensures safe pedestrian movement through regulated pedestrian crossings. Parents can be calm about their children crossing the street on their way to school or home.

Project scale
The first uninterruptible power supply units were installed in Odessa. The project identified streets where the traffic intensity and number of accidents required constant operation of traffic lights. Preobrazhenskaya, Rishelievskaya, Italianskaya, Tiraspolskaya, Niny Strokatoy, Uspenskaya and other central streets of the city received uninterruptible power supply units (UPS) on poles, and, as a result, constantly working traffic lights. As a result, the number of accidents on these streets has significantly decreased.
To date, specialists from LogicPower have equipped traffic lights in several cities in Ukraine with backup power supply:
By the end of 2024, LogicPower will install uninterruptible power supplies for more than 1,000 traffic lights on the streets of Kyiv.
