He started Khan Academy when he noticed that his math tutoring for his niece was getting a lot of views on YouTube. The Khan Academy USA database now contains thousands of instructional videos from math to history, from early elementary school to high school.
Most people think that Khan only offers video instruction, but it is much more than that. In addition to the available videos for instruction, there are accompanying exercises that students can do. The progress can be followed by the teacher. So it is much more than video instruction!

In addition, there is also a fully Dutch-language learning environment in development, Khanacademie . They have chosen to recreate videos and therefore not to subtitle and/or synchronize them.
Of course it is inconvenient if we have two similar initiatives with almost the same name in our small country, but in itself this is a sign that something is happening in the field of education. It is of course great that there are so many instructional videos and more are coming. But how do we ensure that it does not become new wine in old bottles, so that students do not watch the digital board in class, where Khan videos are played. No, the real shift is made when schools dare to opt for an educational vision and didactics in an ICT-rich learning environment.
