We conducted research to find out how much users' habits are changing. We were mainly interested in the use of classic news portals compared to social networks. Classic news is read once a day by 71% of men and only 64% of women. People with higher education are more interested in current events and news. How often do we read the news?
The same number of women use social networks, but barely half of men. The most common is, of course, Facebook, which is the most popular social network in our country. It is not true that social networks are entertainment for Generation Y. A third of people over 45 follow them.
How do we monitor social networks?
"Our research only confirms the trend of recent years - people business owner database are increasingly looking for information on social networks. They also follow classic news on their Facebook walls. Media and brands must prepare for this trend," explains Pavel Houser, director of the AITOM agency.
But it also has its disadvantages. Facebook cares about the layman and sharing, so its algorithm pushes things to us that we will like more. Information can therefore come to us distorted or incomplete. This is very clearly visible right now before the elections. On Facebook, you will see more often posts from parties and politicians that you support. Media experts are debating what influence the popularity of politicians on social networks can have. Although, according to Josef Šlerka, Facebook cannot win anyone an election , on the contrary, it can distort it quite a bit.
Students and unemployed people follow social networks the most. On the contrary, entrepreneurs follow them the least. This can also be detrimental to entrepreneurs. Companies and self-employed people build their brand and constantly present their work . Social networks can be a way to reach customers in a more personal way.
How individual professions use social networks
We watch very little TV or radio online. Only 12% of people listen to radio online at least once a day , compared to only 9% of people who watch TV. For comparison, 32% of men and 28% of women watch YouTube at least once a day.
