1. Call for Applications: 4th Kırımlı Dr. Aziz Bey International Humanitarian Law Competition & Advanced Summer School. This summer school and competition will take place between 9 – 14 September 2024 in Heybeliada, İstanbul, Türkiye. The Competition & the Advanced Summer School are organized by the Istanbul Center for International Law (ICIL) and Türk Kızılay (Turkish Red Crescent), with the contribution of the ICRC. The competition’s main theme for this edition will be the law of occupation. The early bird application deadline is 30 June 2024. The admissions are on a rolling basis. 2. Chatham House Countermeasures in Cyberspace. With malicious cyber operations increasingly launched from one country to another, states are looking for effective ways to respond consistently with international law. International law also allows states to take ‘countermeasures’ in response to wrongful acts in cyberspace and beyond. This discussion will vk database explore the application of the international law on countermeasures in the cyber context, and its implications for response options to malicious cyber operations. It will also launch a research paper on ‘Countermeasures in cyberspace’ by Chatham House’s International Law Programme. This event will be hosted on 23 May 2024 – 5:00pm to 6:30pm UK time at Chatham House and online. To register attendance, register online or email [email protected].

3. Summer School in EU External Relations Law. CLEER and the T.M.C. Asser Instituut are hosting their 9th summer school in EU External Relations Law, from 24 – 26 June 2024 at the campus of VUB University in Brussels. The programme will comprise interactive lectures delivered by academic experts and discussion led by experienced practitioners. Find more information here.

4. Call for Papers: Journal of International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict. The Journal of International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict is welcoming articles for its second issue of 2024. This issue focuses on “Businesses in International Humanitarian Law”. Articles focusing on other topics are equally welcome. Contributions can be in English or German and should be approx. 6,000 words (including footnotes). Submissions, including a brief abstract and statement of affiliation should be sent by 15 July 2024 to the Managing Editor of the JILPAC via e-mail: [email protected].
