The reasons for these changes?

The first reason for this decision is to avoid the shortage of 10-digit mobile numbers for individuals , taking into account the evolution of new mobile uses among professionals. Indeed, as professional uses have multiplied in recent years, more and more 10-digit numbers have been allocated to professionals, reducing the range of numbers available to individuals.
In order to allow individuals, but also professionals, the possibility of exchanging by long number, it was decided to split the two uses into different number ranges:
Individuals kept the numbers that were historically linked to them (06 and 07)
And for several months now, professionals have benefited from a new dedicated tranche (09)
The second reason is, unsurprisingly, the strengthening of individual protection against fraud and abuse (unsolicited calls, smishing, etc.). You yourself must have been a victim of this more than once. By receiving an SMS of a supposedly contact numbers list pending delivery and a link to click, coming from a long number that you do not recognize. Or a call from a so-called salesperson, who wants to sell you a mutual insurance policy and has enough information about you to convince you of the veracity of his offer. You may not fall into the trap, but many people, especially older ones, have unfortunately not escaped it.
To protect users and limit the nuisance linked to these unsolicited communications, professional use of these number ranges is no longer authorized.
What will happen to the VLN at SMSFactor?
It is important to note that the service has evolved enormously with the creation of this new tranche in 09, creating new, more restrictive rules for businesses .
From now on, brands must converse with their customers in an omnichannel manner: by voice, message, SMS. It is no longer possible to simply send professional SMS and our customers' habits are therefore too poorly adapted to this new segment.
To date, SMSFactor has chosen not to offer this new range of numbers for professionals in France. But you can still send your SMS via shared short numbers. Nothing changes on this side!
How can I continue sending professional SMS?
As previously stated, sending professional SMS to converse with your customers is still possible! Whether from our SMS platform , API or one of our plugins , changing a VLN to a shared short number for your SMS sending is done automatically.
What will change for your customers: only the number (or text) that will be displayed on their phone!
If you decide to personalize the sender of your messages, they will know directly who is addressing them , especially if you decide to personalize with the name of your company. The rules for personalizing the sender vary depending on the country. For France, you can use up to 11 alphanumeric characters for example.
If you decide not to personalize the sender, a shared 5-digit number (for France) will be displayed on your customers' screen. It is not unique to you and can be used by other companies. This number is not fixed and may vary. Your customers will be able to reply to you and their message will be displayed directly in your SMS sending tool.
