Big and small players

There are 3.8 billion users on social media worldwide, which is almost half of the world's population. And this number is only growing. The number of users, messages posted and the duration of use increase daily. But which platforms are favorites? And which are the smaller players?

The social media universe visualized
Visual Capitalist wanted to give a clear answer to these questions. To do this, they did not make standard lists, but visualized the state of affairs in an original way in the infographic below. They have visualized various social media platforms as the universe. Social media sites such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, SnapChat and LinkedIn are shown as planets, whereby it becomes clear on scale which platforms are currently the most popular.

At a glance it is clear that social media have changed media use and have come to play an important country email list role in communicating with each other.

In addition to the display of large and small platforms, the infographic provides information about the number of active users per month. The leader of all platforms is Facebook, followed by WhatsApp and YouTube. Messaging services Messenger and the Chinese WeChat complete the top 5. Furthermore, we see well-known platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Reddit in the top 10, in addition to the Chinese platforms QQ, Weibo and Qzone. The platforms Snapchat, Pinterest, Twitter and LinkedIn occupy positions 13 to 16.
