The import process can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days, depending on the volume of emails in your old account. It runs in the background, so you can close the window.
Labels: Gmail imports emails into your new account, and any existing dataset labels in the old account will be converted into new labels in your new account.
One-Time Import: The "Import mail and contacts" feature is primarily a one-time bulk import. While it can fetch new emails for 30 days, for continuous forwarding, you should set up separate forwarding (see Method 2).
Method 2: Set Up Automatic Forwarding (For Continuous New Emails)
This method ensures that any new emails sent to your old account automatically appear in your new one. It doesn't transfer historical emails.
Sign in to your old Gmail account.
Click on the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner.
Click "See all settings".
Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
In the "Forwarding" section, click "Add a forwarding address."
Enter your new Gmail address and click "Next" then "Proceed."
A confirmation email will be sent to your new Gmail account.
Go to your new Gmail account, open the confirmation email, and click the confirmation link.
Go back to your old Gmail account's "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" settings.
Select "Forward a copy of incoming mail to" and choose your new email address from the dropdown.
For "When a message is forwarded to that address," choose what happens to the original email in the old account (e.g., "keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox," "archive Gmail's copy," "delete Gmail's copy").
Click "Save Changes."
Method 3: Manually Forward Selected Emails
If you only need to move a few specific emails, you can simply forward them.
