Saturday began with a latte! Fabio has definitely gotten good at making these.

On Friday evening, all I wanted to do was stay in and binge watch Netflix from the couch, but instead I pulled myself together so Fabio and I could head into DC for our friend Greg’s housewarming party. Greg is a good friend of ours and always does a lot for us, so we knew it wouldn’t be nice if we skipped his party for no good reason other than being lazy.

When we arrived at Greg’s we saw lots of Fabio’s fraternity brothers (most of whom were a couple of years younger than us) and it definitely took me back to my college days. There were beer cans everywhere and the boys had lots of fun playing beer pong and other ridiculous drinking games.

Boys.

While the boys played, I chatted with a few of my girlfriends who were there about list to data wedding planning (one is engaged and one just got married a few weeks ago) and they definitely made the evening more fun.

Eventually most of the younger crew headed out to the bars, but all of us who are a little older decided to just go home. Haha! I was definitely feeling old at this party.

After that and taking Jack for a walk to the park, we got to work on the loft! We finished painting the loft a few weeks ago, but we hadn’t had a chance yet to move all of Fabio’s baseball stuff up there. You may remember that the only way to get up to the loft (for now) is by climbing a ladder, so moving tons of heavy baseball memorabilia up the ladder was no easy feat!

In fact, Fabio was literally pinned to the ground after hauling one of his giant jerseys up there. Haha!

Finally we got everything up there, and now we are brainstorming how we want to store (hide?) the boxes and boxes of memorabilia that won’t make it onto the wall. Let me know if you have suggestions!

I think the rest of the area is going to look really nice though, and I’m glad we decided to just paint the back wall where most of the jerseys will be hung white (we were originally planning to paint Yankee pinstripes on that wall, but after measuring everything out we realized that a) it would be a ton of work and b) it wouldn’t even look that good since all the jerseys already have the pinstripes on them).

Now that we have everything up there we can start hanging everything and decorating! We are planning to get a futon for up there as well as a couple of bean bag chairs and a beer fridge, so researching some options is next on my to-do list. We have a bunch of friends coming to stay with us in a couple of weeks, so I’m sure that will happen sooner rather than later! I’m so excited to have this bonus space in our house where we can finally showcase all of Fabio’s cool stuff in a place that’s not our master bedroom.

Once we were done in the loft, we took a break for some lunch. We have been loving the pizza from Wise Guys in Rosslyn, and on Saturday we enjoyed slices of chicken parm pizza.

Delicious!

Later in the afternoon, we drove over to our friends Megan and JR’s house to pick up their dog Tully, who we were watching for the weekend. He is such a cutie!

He and Jack get along really well too.e took them both for a nice long walk in the park on Saturday evening, and it was nice getting outside once the temperatures had cooled down a little.

Once we got home, we had to deal with a bit of a pest issue in the house. If you are squeamish about pests, you might not want to read this part!

Ok so, long story short, over the last few weeks I’ve been seeing a lot of sprickets (aka camel crickets or cave crickets) in the house. Not a ton, but I’d usually see one a day either on the walls first thing in the morning or in my shower. I usually don’t mind bugs but I hate these because they’re huge and really startle me when I see one unexpectedly, and they jump really high. Bleh.
