Throughout the history of the Internet giant, there have been many updates to its algorithm, changes that have led to its search engine becoming the most used in every corner of the planet.
This is not the first core update to its algorithm that has been carried out so far this year, in fact, it is the fourth. The first one took place in March , and took 13 days to complete. That core update presented a higher volatility (or changes) than previous updates, producing more changes on mobile devices than on computers, with a difference of more than 2 points in their volatility. The second one arrived on August 22 , while, as we said, the third one occurred very recently, in October .
“We update Google Search thousands of times a year. We don’t share every single one of these updates because many of them are relatively small and make incremental changes. We share updates that we think are notable. We shared 10 updates in 2021, another 10 updates in 2022 , and we expect roughly the same in 2023 ,” the company explained, cyprus number data including among these updates others that it has developed in recent months, such as the spam update , the helpful content update or the reviews update .
Google has also announced that a new reviews update will begin to be implemented next week, and that it will be the last of its kind announced: “We will no longer send periodic notifications of improvements to our review system, as these will occur at a regular and continuous pace. We will update our page about the system to reflect this; we will also update that page if the system evolves in any notable way, such as covering more languages. Those who carry out reviews should read our guidelines and focus on them over time.”
A bug in Discover
Google has also explained that the previous October update experienced a bug, which caused unexpected results for the company, and which have now been corrected: “We found an error in the way our October 2023 core update was applied to Discover, which has now been corrected. As a result, some sites may experience an increase in traffic related to Discover.”
