The state prosecution presented two tables to the court, which contained data on companies promoting grants. The defense of Alexander Monosov pointed out to Alexander Pavlov that Alexander Monosov is accused of lobbying, but OOO NTR (Novie Telekom Resheniya) is not on this list, although it, as one of the five companies promoted by the accused Monosov, received a grant. Alexander Pavlov explained that the accused could have sent it additionally.
The prosecutor presented bahamas whatsapp number databa se to the court in the case file screenshots taken by the investigation on December 29, 2022, from the phone of the CEO of RFRIT, where his correspondence with Alexander Monosov is visible as evidence. On November 7, 2022, the competition for grants from RFRIT ended, but the correspondence with the former head of BFT up until the date of the screenshots of the messages in Telegram (December 29, 2022) was not displayed on the screenshot.
When asked by a ComNews correspondent whether the inclusion of Maxim Parshin's former assistant Alexey Popov and Ilya Massukh as witnesses would speed up the consideration of the case, Aleksandr Pavlov replied that it was difficult to give the correct answer right away: "But if they can report something significant, then probably. It is obvious that the lawyers are using tactics to confuse, there are many of them, they are asking the same questions in different formulations, that is why it takes so much time to consider the case. Maybe with new participants it will be easier and faster."
According to statistics from the Supreme Court of Russia for 2023, last year the court issued 22,014 guilty verdicts for corruption-related crimes on the main elements and as an additional qualification. This is 7.3% more than in 2022. According to the Federal Chamber of Advocates, the percentage of acquittals from the total number of criminal cases completed in courts of first instance in 2023 was 0.25%.
Pavel Katkov, founder of the Future Legal law firm, clarified to a ComNews correspondent that if these statistics are true for corruption-related crimes, then it can be roughly calculated that for every 22,014 guilty verdicts there are 0.25% acquittals, which is about 55 verdicts per year: "However, statistics for different types of crimes may differ in one direction or another. It should be noted that the statistics of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation include not only crimes committed by officials, but all types of articles of a corruption-related nature. If it is necessary to single out only the official articles from them, it will be necessary to conduct a similar statistical analysis for each position."
