Current vision of the ICT sector (I)

Post by monira444 »

Current vision of the ICT sectorIn this first post, Rubén González, professor of the International Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management at Bureau Veritas University Center, talks to us about the current situation of the ICT sector.

It is evident that there is a great influence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), the Internet and networks, in all areas in which a human being moves daily , such as: leisure, work, health, communication, research and others.

The technology that was used just ten years ago is now practically obsolete and is even part of technological prehistory. Some experts believe that even the so-called Moore's Law has become obsolete. The great technological evolution is making society increasingly enter into the Information Society. This has made technology make its way into bank data practically all sectors and, thanks to the great technological wave and exchange of information, the creation of advances, innovations and research, space has been given to the formation of new markets with enormous possibilities.

National companies cross borders and become multinationals. Communication through the Internet, through which people interact with other people or companies, helps to cross borders that do not exist in the digital world, creating new possibilities to reach further. More opportunities for growth are opened, allowing the expansion of businesses that have a local scope, to be able to do business anywhere in the world. In the world of buying and selling through the Internet, a new type of mixed economy has been generated, where taxes are generated according to the locality from which a product is exported and imported, producing a double benefit in taxes and a double benefit in the transaction: that of the seller who presents his products almost without borders and that of the buyer who acquires products that are more suited to his needs. This highlights the priority need to reach a technological convergence, which helps all citizens and companies to fully enter the Information Society, thus guaranteeing equal opportunities within the global market , economic growth, innovation and, of course, job creation.

The evolution is growing and seems to not stop; more and more we see that the environment is turning towards technology. The change of mentality has been notable, going from seeing technology as a “dark art and not an engineering”, as Bill Clinton said; or as “the surest way to go bankrupt” as Pompidou said, to almost not having anything that does not come from technology. We find it practically everywhere, already forming a macro sector that is present in all sectors: energy, finance, leisure, telecommunications, infrastructure, transport, health, education, even in the home itself; information has become the key element of information technologies.
