How to connect a second screen to a laptop

Post by zakiyatasnim »

When working from home, a laptop screen may not be enough. Fortunately, most devices make it easy to expand your workspace, even if they don't have a second display port. Let's take a look at options that don't require you to buy a lot of additional equipment.
Using the external display connector
Many laptops have a port for connecting a second monitor. It may look like a regular connector, such as HDMI, but is often smaller. If one of the ports looks unfamiliar, it may be for connecting a display.

Macbooks and some Windows laptops have Thunderbolt, Mini sweden number data DisplayPort, and Mini-DVI ports. To connect an external monitor, you'll need a special adapter or cable. For example, Microsoft's Surface Book has a built-in Mini DisplayPort, which can be converted to regular HDMI with an adapter, suitable for connecting to almost any TV or monitor.

Using the USB port
If there is no dedicated display port, you can use a USB connection. For example, USB-C is suitable not only for connecting external hard drives and phones, but also for connecting monitors. In most cases, all you need is a cable.

If your laptop doesn't have USB-C, more traditional USB ports will do. Using external hubs, you can not only increase the number of ports, but also connect a display via HDMI and even add an Ethernet connection. This method will be especially useful if you don't have enough ports to connect all the peripherals you use while working in the office. However, not all laptops support video output via USB-C, and only some external dongles can add support for this feature, so be sure to check the manufacturer's manual for your specific device.
