CGP: How to Prevent Your Data Grid from Becoming a Data Mess
25.11.2024
Andrea Novara, lead engineer and head of banking and payments at Agile Lab, explains on Information Age how to effectively implement a data mesh by installing firewalls.
in modern business, it is not easy to achieve. Many large enterprises are still enmeshed in cumbersome, centralized management hierarchies, and decision-making power still resides in the hands of a relatively few.
It’s a relic of a bygone era, when decisions were made at the top and trickled down through old methods of communication. Today, it seems painfully slow. It’s this lack of agility that often hampers bangladesh mobile database and responsiveness, allowing competitors with more agile ways of working to get ahead.
While digitalization has made data much easier to access, facilitating decentralized decision making, organizations resist empowering teams for fear of losing control. This problem is compounded by the vast amounts of customer and personal information collected over many years and stored in multiple data warehouses. Keeping these mountains of data secure is an expensive headache in itself, let alone unlocking their hidden value within a workable governance structure. And there are also a host of external privacy and security regulations that must be met when manipulating and using sensitive data.
Simplifying access to data
Recognition of the growing need for a different, more efficient way to manage and extract value from data silos has led to the concept of the data grid. It is a distributed, domain-driven approach where ownership and responsibility for data is transferred to the appropriate teams with a stake in its accuracy. The goal is to unlock the value of data assets by turning them into well-managed, high-quality data products that enable data consumers to use them more easily and fully. This simplifies access to data by breaking down silos, facilitating sharing and collaboration.
Although agility has become the buzzword
