Key AI Trends for 2024
22.12.2023
2023 was the year of AI breakthroughs. What's in store for 2024? Ten IT experts interviewed by InformationWeek predict how they think AI will evolve.
When 2023 rolled around, few observers were paying attention to the profound impact AI would have on IT, business, and the world at large. Now that the dust has settled, it’s time to look ahead to the new year and the trends that will shape AI progress in 2024.
The defining AI trend in 2024 will be the widespread south africa mobile database of large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, leading to the emergence of general-purpose AI (AGI), predicts Avi Gruska, senior director of AI at analytics technology company Sisense. “This trend highlights the changing dynamics of the workforce, where AI is expanding job roles to support core skills and creativity, particularly in data analytics,” he says.
2. Stronger cyber defenses, more sophisticated attackers
AI already provides huge benefits to our cyber defenders, enabling them to improve capabilities, reduce effort, and better protect against threats, says Phil Venables, CISO at Google Cloud. “We expect these capabilities and benefits to increase in 2024 as defenders master the technology, allowing them to direct its evolution to specific use cases,” he explains.
On the other hand, Venables expects attackers to use generative AI and LLM to personalize and gradually scale their destructive campaigns: “They will use everything they can to blur the line between benign and malicious AI applications, so defenders will need to act faster and more effectively.”
