On January 16, American director David Lynch posted a message on his social media about his death. The iconic filmmaker died five days before his 79th birthday. As Lynch's relatives wrote : "There is a huge hole left in the world after his death. But, as he himself would say: "Look at the donut, not the hole in it."

The cause of the director's death has not yet been announced, but it is known that he was seriously ill. The future author of cult films was born on January 20, 1946, in the town of Missoula, Montana. His father, David Lynch Sr., was a research scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which is why the family moved frequently. The director's mother, Edwina, taught English at school.

From an early age, Lynch was interested in drawing and after school decided to study to become an artist. However, he did not like the art school in Boston, and he left the institution a year after entering. Soon David moved to Philadelphia and began studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where he liked it much more. Peggy Reavey, with whom Lynch began a romantic relationship, also studied there. It all ended in pregnancy and marriage (at that time, the future director was 21 years old).
