Some time ago, the press reported on a surprising piece of news: a textbook in Barcelona that showed fifth-grade primary school students the “language of mobile phones.” The case captured the attention of educators and parents , who were shocked by such an intrusion into the school curriculum. New technologies have changed our behavior and our lifestyle, attacking the greatest intangible asset that we as people have: language.
In 2006, at the height of the SMS boom, the first ecuador mobile database studies appeared that described the language we used with the legendary Nokia or the Alcatel one touch as a "social and linguistic phenomenon." Time has only increased this milestone. With the arrival of smartphones and their emoji keyboard , communication has revolutionized relational models, even entering the business world. For a few days now, "smilies" have become an alternative to Facebook's like! and there are even pressure groups to influence the Unicode Consortium , the organization that "creates" emoticons.
Although we have made it so much our own that we cannot imagine a day without it, I have to warn you that WhatsApp is not for the business world. If what we want is to get closer to our potential client, the trust offered by any type of messaging app , which should be reserved for extreme cases , will not help us at all. The same thing happens with social networks, that exciting world of universal connectivity without limits can make the launch of the project of our life remain a mere dream.
Communication in the company must be formal, serious and always governed by the strictest canons of correctness . The abbreviation that we use in the most colloquial contexts must never cross the boundaries of business. As a communications consultant, I insist a lot with our clients that they should not be carried away by the speed and lightness of everyday life and that any type of communication they carry out must always respond to spelling rules and grammatical correctness.
