Everything you need to know about open rates

Post by suchona.kani.z »

Open rate (often referred to simply as “OR”) is a fundamental email metric that plays a crucial role in determining whether a campaign was successful or not. That’s why it deserves a separate article so you know everything you need to know about it. Briefly, clearly, and to the point. So let’s get started.

What is email open rate?
This parameter shows how well you managed to engage your recipients and what percentage of them opened your message .

How is it calculated?
You can get the opening rate automatically in any emailing tool . It calculates it using this formula:

(number of messages opened ÷ number of messages delivered) × 100.

It is important to know that open rate is calculated only from indonesia email list delivered emails . For example, if you send 20 messages as part of a campaign, 10 recipients read it, but 5 of them do not receive the email at all for whatever reason, it will not affect your statistics.

The open rate in this case is (10 ÷ 15) × 100 = 66.67%.

Why is open rate so important?
Open rate is a kind of indicator of whether your campaigns and emailing are overall heading towards success, or vice versa.

A high open rate primarily shows that you are writing good email subjects that your recipients want to read and open. It can also indicate good contact segmentation or a well-chosen name or email address, as you build trust with your audience.

However, a high OR also has a purely motivational effect. It gives a clear signal that your efforts and time and financial investments are worthwhile.
