This forecast was given by the CEO of Solar Group, Vice President of Rostelecom PJSC Igor Lyapunov at the presentation of the Solar NGFW line of software and hardware complexes. The number of players in this market by 2024, according to the head of Solar Group, exceeded 35, but there is no real competition between them. As Igor Lyapunov noted, most of these developers operate on the principle of "slapdash, and release", taking open source solutions as a basis. According to his estimate, no more than 10 of them offer any serious products.

Kirill Koktyshev, Head of Operational slovenia whatsapp number database Efficiency and Development at Inter RAO Service Management LLC, noted that Russian vendors, when using open source components, such as antivirus solutions, often switch customers to direct developers. Also, in his opinion, very few vendors have all the necessary competencies to create signatures for the same antiviruses or attack detection and prevention tools (IDS/IPS). Another weakness of the domestic market, according to the Inter RAO representative, is the weak collaboration between vendors and poor awareness of integrators about Russian products.

Linx Cloud Product Manager Stanislav Bratchikov believes that the Russian NGFW market is developed: "Domestic NGFWs can already be called mature enough to be used in infrastructures of any complexity and size. I am sure that the more people use Russian NGFWs, the faster their progress will be, which will eventually level out the advantages of foreign vendors. The main difficulty is the high cost of some individual Russian NGFWs for end users. In addition, not all vendors have a convenient monthly pricing model yet."

UserGate Development Manager Ivan Chernov also highly rates the level of development of Russian NGFWs: "Domestic NGFWs have consistently increased their functionality, focusing both on the best global approaches and practices, and on market demands. As a result, Russian solutions have progressed rapidly, and those of them that had a history of development and implementation before the active import substitution were technologically ready for it. Of course, there is not always enough functionality and speed yet. But this is a matter of time and practice. The colossal experience gained in recent years in connection with large-scale import substitution has become a serious catalyst for rapid technological development and is already yielding results."

, linked the shortcomings of Russian products to the fact that developers were forced to create complex solutions under time pressure: "Many Russian vendors found themselves in a situation where they had to develop a product in an extremely short time frame, release an NGFW on the existing base, and then improve it. At the same time, NGFW is a very complex class of products, in which the foundation is a key component. Therefore, Russian vendors are trying to increase the functionality that they lacked at the start. And the market has not yet adjusted. If you ask customers, they still cannot switch from Western solutions to Russian NGFW without losing fault tolerance and reliability. If you compare, most Russian developments have walls and a roof, but no solid foundation, which is why the entire structure is crooked and lopsided. And as we know, NGFW is exactly the product that should do the job as reliably as possible and at the same time be invisible to the user."

Dmitry Shkuropat, Head of Information Security at Nubes cloud provider, reminds us that solutions from foreign vendors have been developing and improving over many years and are used all over the world, which makes it possible to collect a huge amount of statistical data and improve the product, while Russian solutions did not have such capabilities, although there are domestic players that have advanced a little further than others in improving NGFW products, but in general, it will take quite a long time for the solutions to reach a new level.
