Other Russian developers of base stations are Yadro Group and Bulat LLC (Rostelecom controls 51% of the shares in it through Commit Capital LLC).
In December 2022, Bulat and Rostelecom signed a forward contract for the supply of up to 17 thousand base stations to the operator by 2026. In February 2024, Bulat completed the initial stage of field testing of a prototype of the first domestic base station of GSM/LTE-1800 standards: 20 base stations were installed on the test segment of the Rostelecom network in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
where the BS will be installed armenia whatsapp number database in 2024 will be determined. Serial production of base stations will begin by the end of 2024. Bulat's strategy is aimed at a full cycle of equipment production in Russia. All solutions are implemented based on our own and partner developments," Bulat's press service told a ComNews correspondent.
According to ComNews, Bulat is trying to localize in Russia the solution of the Chinese company Hytera Communications Corporation Ltd, which has a development for private 4G networks (pLTE).
In addition to the contract with Rostelecom, Bulat LLC has a forward contract with MegaFon PJSC, which they concluded in 2023. It provides for a maximum supply volume of up to 5,000 base stations in 2024-2026. As Bulat's press service noted, all work is being carried out according to the agreed plan between the parties.
Prior to this, in 2022, MegaFon signed a forward contract with the Yadro group of companies for the supply of domestic GSM (2G) and LTE (4G) base stations. "We are testing various types of network equipment, both foreign and Russian-made," MegaFon's press service reported.
Managing partner of TMT Consulting Konstantin Ankilov noted that the statements from Irtea and Bulat about specific planned serial volumes for the near future are serious, but the success of these projects can only be discussed after looking at the testing results.
Anniversary of the completion of Skoltech's project to create a base station for 5G
Previously, Skoltech was also involved in the development of BS for 5G. In 2020-2022, a Leading Research Center (LRC) was formed on the basis of Skoltech, the purpose of which was to create a software and hardware complex for 5G networks. The three-year project to create the first production model of a domestic base station of the fifth generation of communication was completed in April 2023.
Skoltech carried out the work with the support of the NTI Foundation within the framework of the state program "Digital Economy", supervised by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation. The total development budget was 474 million rubles, of which 300 million rubles were received in the form of a state grant.
"Over the past seven years, this is my second successful attempt to contribute to the localization of the development and production of critical systems of the basic telecommunications infrastructure after the launch of the optical coherent DWDM information transmission system "Horizon" by IPG Photonics/IREP," Vitaly Shub, a leading researcher at the Center for Applied Photonics and Quantum Technologies of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, who headed the 5G LRC at Skoltech in 2020-2022, told a ComNews correspondent.
