On October 2, 2023, a federal educational center for training in piloting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) opened in the Rudnevo industrial park. The training program for it was prepared by experts from the Russian Drone Racing Federation with the support of PJSC Rostelecom.

"We are pleased to be at the origins of the emergence of a new digital industry in Russia related to unmanned aerial vehicles. On the one hand, its development will require the digital infrastructure of Rostelecom and Tele2, including for the application and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which is inevitable in today's conditions. Therefore, we see a professional niche for Rostelecom here," said Rostelecom President Mikhail Oseevsky.

The goal of the program is to train 1 million specialists by 2030. To this end, the Russian Drone Racing Federation will launch an educational project in 30 regions of Russia in 2024. The training is designed for 240 academic hours, of which 20% is allocated to theoretical material and 80% to practice.

The program is built from 12 modules, after each of which students will undergo certification. Upon completion of the course, each specialist will be issued a diploma of the established form on obtaining a profession. The educational center guarantees employment.

"Our educational project is available to anyone. At the moment, more than 150 candidates have already responded. For the first stream, which is a test, we recruited 26 people. The maximum number is 50 students. In the future, we will expand the quota. After completing the course, everyone finds an application for their skills on their own. Moreover, any of our graduates receives the status of a teacher and can further develop in this direction, teaching other people," said Ilya Galaev, President of the Russian Drone Racing Federation.

Ilya Ivanov, head of the Digital Avatars project at the Nanosemantics IT company, which specializes in creating interactive dialogue interfaces, suggested areas in which specialists can apply their acquired skills: "Today, drones are about the same as phones with a screen in the 2000s. They were not widespread, so not everyone understood why they should study to become a mobile app developer. Today, the answer to this question is obvious, and the same situation will be with drones. They can take such a service area as delivery services to a new level. Drones are currently used in the entertainment industry, in particular, in air shows. You can organize drone racing championships with thousands of fans. Therefore, in my opinion, the creation of drone control training centers will be relevant, including if new areas of their application begin to form."
