Problems with data verification may mainly arise for elderly people, says Denis Kuskov, head of TelecomDaily. In his opinion, a situation may arise when such subscribers will not be able to come to the salon, there will be no one to help them, and the person does not use the Internet. For such isolated cases, it makes sense for operators to organize home visits, the expert believes.

He recalled that blocking is needed to combat dishonest or inactive subscribers: unregistered SIM cards or those registered to third parties are often used for telephone fraud and spam. The representative of the Ministry of Digital Development did not predict how many subscribers may ultimately be disconnected from communication as a result of the check.

As of today, the number of grey SIM cards has been reduced to a minimum, a MegaFon representative told RBC. The operator continues to inform subscribers about the need to confirm their data. Representatives of MTS, T2 RTK Holding (Tele2 brand) and VimpelCom (Beeline) declined to comment
