Digitalization of business processes is one of the key objectives of the Rosneft-2030 strategy. According to Rafail Gazizov, chief engineer of the RN-BashNIPIneft corporate institute, holding specialized hackathons allows Rosneft to solve real production problems by attracting highly qualified personnel to cooperation.

The declared priority of the IT Marathon is to solve problems using modern digital technologies and artificial intelligence tools. The solutions obtained during the competition are implemented in Rosneft software used for hydrocarbon exploration and production.

As Rafail Gazizov specified, in 2022 the IT Marathon focused on two methods of data analysis: their clustering (with a focus on machine learning methods) and correlation (with a focus on the use of classical mathematics methods). The solutions obtained will be used to build geological models and determine oil production methods.

The winner of the hackathon, Daniil Raspopin, a 4th-year student of the Faculty of Public Administration and International Relations from the South-West State University (Kursk), received an invitation to work at RN-BashNIPIneft and is already involved in the institute's projects related to data analysis and machine learning.
