Media spurn their own readership

Post by asimd23 »

Sometimes there are interpretations that become so ingrained in people's minds that they cannot be removed, even if they turn out to be wrong. Two examples from the US elections four years ago illustrate this well. For example, after the elections it was said that 52 percent of white women voted for Trump.

Much has been written and speculated about this. How canada rcs data could so many women vote for him after "Grab them by the pussy"? But it was not 52 percent but 47 percent, as was later revealed when the exit polls were corrected and refined.

The second big story was the filter bubble. And specifically the one to the left of center. The urban left-liberal elites were out of touch and had no idea about the other America, it was said at the time. And so the very media that are read primarily by the left-liberal urban elites, such as the New York Times, set out to portray this other America. Thousands of stories emerged about Trump voters, about diners, about rural and forgotten America. And the opinion pages expanded their spectrum of opinions.
