The media are of paramount importance to conspiracy theorists. Only if their theories are spread there do they have a chance of being noticed by a large public. But in the established media, which follow journalistic criteria, such content is only taken into account in exceptional cases because it is not based on research with reputable sources. This is why these media are generally denigrated as "lying media", especially by right-wing conspiracy theorists. They understand this term to mean a conspiracy of all traditional media against them, which they must therefore fight with all available means.
The term "lying media" was already in use in uae rcs data Germany before the First World War. But it was the Nazis who used it in their propaganda organs. Adolf Hitler used this term in 1922 for the Marxist press that still existed at the time. The NSDAP described the commentary on Kristallnacht in 1938 by foreign media as reactions by the "hate-mongering and lying press" that wanted to slander Germany in this way. Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels also used the term lying press to characterize the media of the later wartime enemies, the USA, France and Great Britain.
