Q: What was the origin

Post by kexej28769@nongnue »

Question: Can my anonymous reviews be returned?
A: Never say "never" with Google. Since their inception, Google's review count has been staggering, and has been plagued by various bugs. There have been cases where reviews have disappeared and reappeared. But, in this case, I'm not sure that these types of reviews will come back. This is most likely an action taken by Google with the intention of improving their review corpus, which is unfortunately plagued by spam.

Q: What was the origin of the reviews from "A Google user"?
A: Reviews designated by this language have come canada number data a variety of scenarios, but they are primarily a result of Google's rollout of Google+ and then its subsequent decoupling from local. As Mike Blumenthal explains:

As recently as 2016, Google required users to log in as G+ users in order to leave reviews. When they moved away from +, they gave users multiple choices about deleting their reviews or creating a name. Many users didn’t make that change. For users who chose to remain anonymous and make the transition, Google identified them as “A Google user”…. Some devices like older BlackBerrys can also leave reviews but not a name. In addition, users may have left + and may have switched profiles, leaving their old profiles on Google. Needless to say, there were many ways that these reviews could have been created by “Google users.”
Q: Is removing anonymous reviews a positive or negative? What is Google trying to do here?
A: Whether this process has worked out well or poorly for you depends on the quality of the reviews you lost. In some cases, the loss has suddenly left you behind your competitors in terms of review count or rating. In others, the loss of anonymous negative reviews has resulted in an improvement in your star rating - which would be great news!
